Our Wines

Working vintages and studying in Australia, California’s Central Coast, Sierra Foothills, Central Valley, and Sonoma County has provided me a diverse exposure to some very different growing regions, winemaking techniques, and fundamental philosophies. That experience, combined with studying Rhone-style wines from around the world has revealed one commonality; all great wines require great fruit. Four Fields wines are made in small batches from fruit precision grown by the Mansfield Family’s Goldbud Farms.
 
Only the soundest clusters showing the richest vitality are harvested. After gentle de-stemming and repeated berry sorting the choicest grapes are allowed to begin their evolution into wine. The farming is detailed, and fruit character is paramount. Oak influence is subtle, and winemaking intervention is minimal. This process is not easy, but it is meticulously seen to by me, Winemaker Chuck Mansfield.
Our Wines
Winegrowing starts in the vineyard and continues in the cellar. Our philosophy is to harvest the fruit with a maximum of flavor and vitality. We monitor the natural winemaking process, and step in only when necessary. Oak use, enological additions, fining and filtration are minimal and used only when they will enhance the wines.
